Yes. Applicants should be aged 18+ and have graduated high school. There is no upper age limit.
We do not allow people to defer their offers to the following year. You would have to re-apply and re-audition for the following year.
Once we receive your application you will be contacted straight away to tell you we received it.
Depending on the option from your application form you will then be sent the audition details for either in person at our studios or via video.
For your audition you will need to prepare the following:
– Two contrasting musical theatre songs (32 bar cuts, please bring sheet music)
– One monologue of your choice (under 3 minutes, no Shakespeare please)
– If you consider yourself to be a dancer you should include a dance routine routine lasting no longer than 2 minutes (video auditions)
– There will be a dance call for in person auditions, please bring appropriate clothing.
We hold auditions throughout the year, either in person or via video, once we receive your application we will be in touch to arrange a date and time. We make offers throughout the year so the sooner you audition the better as spaces are limited.
We only train in the daytime (except when in production) so evenings and weekends are yours! There is homework to be considered so you will have to manage your time wisely.
At the moment we are only allowed to accept US citizens to study on our programs.
We have two programs that require different backgrounds:
Professional Development Program
This is an elite, exclusive program and we only will accept 40 people from across the country. We are looking for people who are extremely strong in at least two of three disciplines (acting, singing and dancing) and some of those accepted will be ‘triple threats’. It is important for us to have students go straight into the industry upon graduating.
This program is designed for those who might not be looking for a degree program. You might be on a gap year looking to hone your skills to leap into the industry. Or, you may be looking to do a degree program and want to be fully prepared to do the best audition possible for your university of choice. You are likely a high-school graduate.
We want you to learn from people who are in the industry now. That means our tutors are industry professionals who have done and are doing what you want to do. Broadway and West End directors, actors, choreographers, casting agents, and musical directors from BOTH New York AND London will be your mentors. This is intensive training designed to not only to polish your skills but to introduce you personally to the industry.
Check out our FACULTY page for a full list of instructors.
AMTA does not provide accommodations. However we do work closely with EHS (Educational Housing Services). Please visit their website at www.studenthousing.org.
Yes, a $1000 non-refundable deposit is due upon acceptance. This will hold your space at the academy.
We are pleased to be able to offer partial scholarships at AMTA. Scholarships will be awarded on a case by case scenario once we have received your video audition.

You will be contacted by our administration team about your audition. Please note that all applications are responded to.
All applicants will be asked to send video links of two contrasting songs, a monologue and a short dance routine of their choice.
