1. What is the 3 -month musical theatre program?
    For three months, you can join our students at the Manhattan campus of AMTA at world-famous Pearl Studios (where most Broadway shows audition and rehearse). Act, sing and dance with us Monday to Friday from 9-5 and then explore all the amazing experiences that the Big Apple has to offer without having to uproot and move there permanently. It is a full-time musical theatre training program, Monday to Friday, 9-5. Students will Dance, Sing and Act daily with industry Professionals.
  2. What subjects will I cover?
    Dance – Musical Theatre Jazz / Tap / Ballet
    Singing – Repertoire / Audition Workshops / Ensemble / Singing Technique (private singing lessons are available at an extra cost)
    Acting – Scene Study / Improvisation / Character Study / Voice and Movement
  3. Where is AMTA New York located?
    AMTA is located at the infamous Pearl Studios at the heart of central Manhattan.
  4. Who teaches at AMTA?
    AMTA only employs working professionals with regular guests from National Tours and Broadway.
  5. What do I get out of the program?
    You will work and network with industry professionals. You will acquire the necessary skills to successfully audition for professional productions. You will receive a certificate of completion when your course ends. This does not contribute to a formal qualification.
  6. I received a scholarship, what does that mean?
    The cost of the 3-month course is $4200 USD, if you receive a scholarship place AMTA will waive that fee. Please note, there is a $500 monthly administration fee. This covers liability insurance and administration fees for your participation in the program.
  7. Does AMTA provide accommodation/housing?
    You are responsible for providing your own accommodation. We can put you in touch with other students who may have rooms available.
  8. Can I work whilst I’m there?
    Yes, only if you are an American citizen.
  9. If I’m not an American citizen, can I still attend?
    Yes, you will enter the country on an ESTA visa with a maximum stay of 90 days. You must have proof that you can be self-sufficient whilst in the US. You will not be eligible to work if you are not a US citizen.
  10. When does the program start?
    We have two start dates, one in September and one in January. Please see the 3-month course page for details.
  11. How do I audition?
    The first step is to send us an email with a video link of two contrasting musical theatre songs to info@theamta.com.
    The video does not have to be professional quality. In the subject field please write ‘Your Name – 3 Month Scholarship Application’. You will be contacted by email if your application is taken to the next stage.
