AMTA all set to welcome its first intake of students to the brand new campus in Belfast on the 24th September.

Heading up the new programs will be Grant Martin. Grant is no stranger to AMTA having musically directed their end of year shows “The Drowsy Chaperone”, “Into the Woods” and “Merrily We Roll Along”.

He is re-joining the AMTA family after a two year break. He will be full-time in Belfast until Christmas and then spread his time between London, Rome, Belfast and New York locations.

“I am so pleased that Grant is coming home to AMTA. He is passionate about teaching young people and I know he will be a great leader for our new students in Belfast. I couldn’t be happier”, says AMTA Principal Kenneth Avery-Clark.

Grant graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a degree in Music, Commercial Composition and Technology.  Musical Director on the UK/Hong Kong tour of ‘Avenue Q’, he also toured with ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’, and previous shows include We Will Rock You; Rent; Into The Woods; The Drowsy Chaperone; Copacabana; Spring Awakening; Little Shop of Horrors; La Cage Aux Folles, Putting It Together and more, along with prominent pantomimes including The Grove Theatre and the Theatre Royal Bury St. Edmunds.

Grant spent several years as Musical Director for Royal Caribbean International, arranging for the orchestras and leading the music programme.  He continues to work in that industry via Live Business Entertainment as Musical Supervisor and arranger.

He has previously taught at several other academies, including Mountview, Bodywork Company Dance Studio, ArtsEd London, Urdang and East 15, and can also be found working as a jazz pianist, whilst maintaining his passion for composing and performing original material.
